New Year, New Focus (With a Little Help From Hapeville’s Worry Rock)

One of my favorite New Year’s traditions is visiting Hapeville’s worry rock. Positioned just outside of the Hapeville Depot Museum & Visitor Center, this rock has been absorbing people’s stress and anxiety for nearly 90 years. A Fulton County Review newspaper editor, Courtland Gilbert, placed the six-feet-long granite slab in Hapeville in 1937 as a roadside attraction. The idea was to encourage drivers along Old Dixie Highway to stop, share their thoughts — and while they were in town — learn a little bit about Hapeville.

For years, people posed by the worry rock, taking photos and putting their mind at ease. More recently, the worry rock may have lost its popularity… but not for this history enthusiast!

Every December, I try to visit the Hapeville worry rock, reflecting on my accomplishments and thinking about the challenges I’ll be tackling in the new year. What did I share with the worry rock this time?

Hodgkiss Consulting made a significant transition in late 2023 and now focuses largely on history and tourism communication projects. Need help with website content? A blog or article? Ready to start publishing an organizational newsletter? Want to create or update your tour scripts? Please keep me in mind when it comes to copywriting and content marketing. I’m always happy to help.

I’m so proud of everything Hodgkiss Consulting accomplished this past year and I’m incredibly excited about the projects in the works for 2024. Thank you, as always, for your support - and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
